An exciting retail and tourism destination

Owned and managed by Fremantle Ports, Victoria Quay sits on the interim register of heritage places in WA and includes notable landmarks such as the Fremantle Passenger Terminal, B Shed, Maritime Museum of WA and E Shed Markets, amongst others. The WA Government has earmarked the quay to become a major tourism precinct, and commissioned Equilibrium to develop a first generation website to help launch and activate the new Victoria Quay brand.

A multi-site solution

Equilibrium developed the Victoria Quay website alongside the Fremantle Ports website. Whilst the projects ran concurrently and were developed on a single Sitefinity CMS platform, the target audiences and objectives were markedly different.

Whereas the Fremantle Ports website was intended mainly for the commercial shipping industry, the Victoria Quay website firmly establishes the quay as an exciting retail and tourism destination.

A great experience

We believed that users visiting both the website and the quay itself should have a great experience. We achieved both by developing a tagging system enabling users to save which activities and points of interest they would like to explore on the day.

Quay wayfinder

Victoria Quay occupies a large geographical area, with dozens of retail outlets, attractions and parking options to choose from. To help navigate the Quay, we developed a wayfinder map enabling users to explore and discover the precinct's facilities.

Driving foot traffic

Large passenger and commercial ships create excitement amongst the general community, and are an important driver of foot traffic to the precinct. We implemented a 360 degree harbour cam enabling users to spot ships and identify opportunities to see them in person.
