Following the successful launch of the award-winning Rottnest Island website, equ was appointed to redevelop the website for the Rottnest Island Authority (RIA), the government organisation responsible for managing and maintaining the island. The previous website, built on a legacy system, faced significant challenges, including security vulnerabilities, non-compliance with accessibility guidelines, an outdated design, and complex navigation. Additionally, there was a pressing need to improve content management and automate workflows to better serve the target audience and enhance customer service.
The redevelopment focused on creating a platform that caters to the needs of RIA’s primary audiences, such as developers and potential new businesses, permit seekers, industry and government stakeholders, Aboriginal community representatives, and boaties (skippers).
The new website provides essential information about infrastructure projects, RIA’s management activities, and cultural, heritage, and environmental programs. Additionally, it offers up-to-date notices on scheduled and unscheduled disruptions, works, and service improvements. The site also streamlines processes for permit applications and delivers crucial resources to these key stakeholders.
equ Co-founder Stephen Dodge commented, “We loved working with the RIA team on the Rottnest Island destination website, so it was great to get the opportunity to work with them on their corporate website. The new website enhances the user experience for key audiences and also ensures that RIA can effectively communicate its initiatives and maintain the high standards expected of a world-renowned destination like Rottnest Island. We’re looking forward to continuing to optimise both websites into the future.”
