Building on the success of Edinburgh Fringe’s app, developed by equ, which has transformed how audiences engage with the world’s largest arts festival, equ will now elevate the online experience for millions of Fringe-goers and festival organisers.
The website redevelopment will roll out in two phases, aiming to enhance user experience, streamline content management, and incorporate features from the app into the web platform - creating a seamless festival journey for attendees.
The first phase, set for release in early 2025, will upgrade the festival’s public-facing website. This phase includes implementing an entirely new back-end system, empowering festival organisers to create and manage content more effectively, while ensuring an intuitive browsing experience for visitors.
The second phase will introduce advanced user features inspired by the Edinburgh Fringe app. New capabilities, including user sign-ups, ticket purchasing, and personalised event planning, will enable users to access a fully interactive, customisable festival experience directly through the website.
The project also builds on the custom API equ developed for the Edinburgh Fringe app, which connects the festival’s key digital platforms and enables real-time data and transactional information sharing. This integration ensures that ticketing, event details, customer data, and other critical information remain up-to-date across the festival’s systems, providing users with a smooth, connected experience.
This dual-phase launch sets a new standard for the Edinburgh Fringe’s online engagement, with the full site expected to roll out by mid-2025. As the Edinburgh Fringe continues to attract a global audience, equ is proud to support its digital evolution, ensuring a platform as dynamic and engaging as the festival itself.
